Think of it as a more intimate Wrapper's Delight! We know Christmas is right around the corner - we're talking 38 days away!!! So, come hang out for the day and get those craft projects finished up, work on your December Daily album, or finish your Christmas cards - whatever you need to work on! Or just use the day as a getaway for you! Just a break from the craziness. (Oh, you can bring your favorite beverage of choice, some snacks if you want, and maybe a lamp for your spot!)

So here are the details:
Friday, December 11th from 8am to 10pm
at Mrs. Claus's Workshop
(okay, Lucy's house)
You and 19 of your closest friends - that's right - this crop is only for the first 20 to register and pay!!

And here's where the twist comes in - this isn't just a crop!
We're having some holiday fun! First, we are going to do a Cookie Swap!! Everyone that comes needs to bring 2 dozen cookies, on a tray and we'll swap them! Every will leave with a mix of yummy cookies they can share with their family, or give as a gift!! Don't worry - you can go buy some cookies out of the bakery if you aren't a baker, or just buy the slice and bake cookies - they are all yummy!!

We can all share our recipes, too - and we'll have more than twenty recipes to whip up before Christmas, or for next Christmas!!

And then we'll have a little Christmas fun and play Dirty Santa. So, everyone can bring a handmade ornament and we'll play Dirty Santa! Fun times, right? I love playing Dirty Santa!

All the other fun crop activites will be going on, too - the Accucut and Slice will be ready for you! Goodie bags and door prizes, as well!

There will be some Scripts news, too!
You won't want to miss that, I promise!!

Over $4,000 raised for Breast Cancer Awareness

So happy for Brittney! She is walking in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk. Her goal was to raise $100. She thought she could probably raise a little more than that. We had a silent auction and had several attendees and designers donate something. We had autographed books, kits, and handmade items. We gave the attendees a couple of hours to bid on silent auction sheets. As I was walking in to help Brittney close it out, someone stopped me and said we should take each item and open it to the floor. Sounded great to me.....go tell B. She did and I bet we doubled our money! It was so fun! Have you ever been to a live auction? Everyone gets into it and has fun outbidding each other. We raised around $1800 on Friday night.

Saturday night rolls around and we asked around for a few more items to auction off. Margie had on an adorable apron that was handmade by her! She offered to put it up for bid. Jessica donated 10 classes in her Scrapbooking Alchemy series, Jenni Bowlin donated 2 kits, Nancy Holley donated a camera strap and ended up donating 2 to the top 2 bidders! They went for $75 adn $80, I think! Margie's apron was a huge hit. She ended up donating to the top 2 bidders, as well. One went for $350 and the other $400!! Gretchen offered a custom mini album, Gail, Bella Blvd designer, donated a birthday mini album. We were on FIRE! It was the most exhilarating feeling! Brittney was brought to tears. So much generosity. It was a moment I will never forget. We ended up opening the floor to anyone that wanted to donate $5 or $10 and got our total up to $4000. Wow, that is a lot of money raised in a weekend. We are so blessed to have support around us. We have all been touched in some way by this disease and many of us will have to face it in our future. I am so glad we could do something to help. I know Brittney will do a great job walking 60 miles! She really is an inspiration. I am so proud to be her friend.

Margie and Brittney raising over $4000 for Breast Cancer Awareness! B is walking 60 miles in Atlanta!!! This was one of the BEST moments of the event!!

Brittney, Margie and myself.......at the end of a LONG weekend. We still look pretty cute, huh?

Ray and Mary Lou! The cutest newlyweds on the block! He was so happy to be there with her! I loved watching them all weekend.

Here is that cute Stephanie from Bella Blvd, that I keep talking about. Love this girl!!

I ripped this little collage from Elizabeth's blog. It was just too easy to have so many pics in one place! Thanks, Liz!!

They muscle man in the corner is a hilarious story! He was scouting the place for an event of some kind and Margie asked for his picture! Of course, he obliged. I think he likes to pose for the camera!

The group pic is of us all setting our cameras on the table on timer and then running to get in the picture! So much fun!!

Thanks to Margie and Elizabeth for posting all the pictures. It made it so easy for me! If you have pictures from the event put a link to your blog or facebook page for us all to see! Thanks for a fantastic weekend!!

Artist's Workshop pictures

Little Yellow Bicycle donated the bags.....They really stand out in a crowd! They were packed with tons of giveaways from the generous sponsors!!

Dan, the CEO of Making Memories, doing a demo for several ladies at the Event.

He brought some FABULOUS doorprizes......He gave away 2 Slice Machines! He also brought a Making Memories Garden Party Slice kit to giveaway. 3 lucky ladies won prizes at the Artist's Workshop! Thanks Dan!

One of the tables at the Artist's Workshop. We made Tim Holtz Fragment necklaces with the charms, patterned paper and dandelion stamps. A little reminder to always be "Wishfully Thinking". The Artist's Workshop was one of my favorite parts of the event. Cute little projects from several vendors! Everyone got to show off different projects with their fantastic products!

What is it......6 days away? I hope you are ready! We are!!

Supply lists in one place!

Yesterday, Brittney and I (and Pat and Lisa) were going over the to-do list for the 100th time. Early in the day Brittney had told me to compile a supply list in one place for everyone. Well, I didn't write it down. Around 3:30 we were going over that list, again. I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do! I knew it was pretty important, but my mind was blank. I woke up around 5am and remembered! I tried to fight it and get a couple more hours of sleep. Oh well, didn't happen! So, I got up and came in to watch the sunrise.....haven't done that in, well, I couldn't tell you when.....Very nice by the way! I digress.....as usual these days.

So, I am heading into the forum, just to see what's happening. I haven't checked in lately. What do you know, Natalie beat me to it! By at least an hour!! I had to give her credit on this post. It was almost like a little lifesaver. I'm thinking she should find me at the event and I should give her something for making my job easier....don't you think? hehe

I will get Elizabeth's supply list ASAP.

For the Artist's Workshop, I need you to bring your taperunner and scissors.

I can't tell you how this is coming together. I finished that to-do list yesterday. I kinda have a free weekend. Isn't that crazy? I guess it all works out like it should. I have a feeling I won't be sleeping much in the next week.....anyone have a good remedy for red-puffy eyes? I will be needing it!

Have a great Friday. Go see Vanessa if you are in Birmingham. There's a pretty big sale going on at Scrap ETC!

Slumber Party at Wishful Thinking

Do I have some fun information for you? YES, I DO!

So, Friday night we are having a SLUMBER PARTY! You know you guys are going to have some room to crop, right? Well, during the cropping - we're going to have a SLUMBER PARTY. Games, music, door prizes and cute pajama's are on the agenda. We'll provide the music, games and prizes but the pj's are on you! Come in your fave old pj's, your cute character pj's, you satiny pj's, your flannel gown - whatever you like!!

I'm thinking you might want to have an idea of what's going to happen at this SLUMBER PARTY. Well, we've got some fun games planned. Some you may have seen before and some brand new fun!! I don't want to spoil the surprise and tell you everything, but I do want to tell you about a thing, or two!!

First - let's have a photo contest!! Not the cutest baby, not the sweetest pet - but YOU!! We want to see pictures of YOU!! Old and new. So, dig out a baby picture, an elementary school picture or a prom picture and bring it along. OH, don't forget a more recent picture, too. So, we're going to display the photos and see who can match the old picture to the new picture!! If you are interested in playing along go check out www.scrapetc.com and visit the message board area for more information - you can sign up to play while you're there.

And how about a Round Robin? I love the idea of doing Round Robins. So, do you know what this is? You get a group of people - usually around 6, and you each start with a blank canvas, just cardstock - you bring with you adhesive and a few other specified items and you start working on a page. You get a short amount of time to work, the buzzer rings and you move your page to the right. So then the person next to you adds something to your page, the buzzer rings, you switch again - to the right. Eventually, you'll get your page back with touches from everyone else. We're doing a themed Round Robin - WISHES!! So you bring a photo that represents your WISH. Check out the message board at www.scrapetc.com for more information and let us know if you want to play along!

Okay, I think I've spilled all the information I can! I hope you are as excited about this event as we are! We can't wait to see you!

(Oh on a side note - I was in the store today and saw some goods for one of the classes and OH MY GOODNESS - I just can't wait for you to see!!)

If you've missed anything - so forget to check the message boards or the event site!!
We'll see you soon!!

A whole lot of SWAPPIN' going on at Scrap Etc.'s WISHFUL THINKING

Hey Everyone!

Have you been to a Scrap Etc. Event before? Have you played along with swaps? Well, if you have - you know it's so much fun! And if you haven't - here's your chance!

CURRENT SWAPS:

We have one swap already open and we're still taking sign ups there - you can see the info HERE.

WANT TO START A SWAP:

If you are interested in a different kind of swap, feel free to go ahead and post it. Each swap just needs to have some guidelines and a plan. THAT'S IT!! Usually, when setting up a swap I just post some quick guidelines (like what is required, a theme, if there is a specific size or specific information needed, how many people can sign up, a cut off date for sign ups, etc), and then wait for people to sign up. As you get closer to the date of the event, come up with a plan for the actual swap. I've done a few where we met up at different times during the event and some where we mail things to one person and they send them all back out. If you go the second route - be sure to give enough time for everyone to send in and you to mail back out. And don't forget to take into consideration postage costs.

As we got closer to the event, I'm sure we'll be able to give you some ideas on the schedule and you can set up times to swap.

Swapping is so much fun - you get to meet people in real life, that you've been chatting with online and you get a little bit of inspiration from each person!! So, come on over to the message board forum of the Scrap Etc. site and check out what's going on. Join a swap, start a swap - makes some friends.

Hope I see you there!!

Class #1 Sneak Peek & Description

"What Makes a House a Home?" layout & project class
Designed & Taught by Jenni Bowlin

What makes a house a home? – is it the smell of coffee brewing? The squeals of little ones? The pictures on the wall? Celebrating what makes our house a home is the theme for our class layout (and special bonus project!)! Make a list, take some photos, and pick a seat as we learn new techniques and make a treasured keepsake in the process (using the latest and greatest Jenni Bowlin Studio products).

*Sponsored by Jenni Bowlin Studios*

If you can't see the supply list image above, here is the plain text version:

Bring your basic tool box (trimmer, scissors, craft knife and mat, decorative scissors ((mini pinking shears in particular)) and various glues including a dry tape runner, glue dots and liquid glue or Glossy Accents. A Krylon metallic silver paint pen would also come in handy). Photos should be sized to approx. 2” x 4” with some room for cropping.

Teacher added to Scrap ETC event 2009!!

OH yes, we are so excited to have Melodee Langworthy coming to teach one of the workshops at the Scrap ETC event!!! She has such a great reputation for having SOLD OUT classes all over the country! We are thrilled that she is going to hang out with us in Atlanta.

This event is shaping up to be one you CAN'T miss! We are digging in and getting things done. I can't wait to get to CHA in Anaheim and talk to the teachers in person and braistorm with them about their classes and what is going to make this event 1st class.

Lists are being made.....some are books! ha, too many things to just have a "list"!
Keep the questions and inquiries coming. We hope to have all your answers and those we don't have.....we are working on!

Lots to do....There are still a few spaces left...The Paypal link is to the right....Hope you'll join us!
